• Size Specifications: The minimum size for the mark is 100 mm x 100 mm, but this can be reduced to 50 mm x 50 mm for smaller packages.

SPECIAL MARKING FOR AIR TRANSPORT:

• Packages conforming to ICAO Technical Instructions must bear a specific mark certifying this compliance.

USE OF OVERPACKS:

• Overpacks must be marked with “OVERPACK” if the dangerous goods markings are not visible, and must display all required marks for the contained goods unless only limited quantities are involved.

PRE-CARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Consignors must inform carriers of the total gross mass of dangerous goods in limited quantities to be transported.

VEHICLE AND CONTAINER MARKING:

• Transport units exceeding 12 tonnes and carrying dangerous goods in limited quantities should be marked front and rear unless they contain other dangerous goods requiring different placarding.
